Alan has over two decades of experience in legal services. His work in immigration began in 2010 when he assisted asylum seekers at the Organization for Refuge, Asylum & Migration (ORAM) and the Center for Gender & Refuge Studies (CGRS). He earned his Juris Doctor in 2012 from the University of California College of the Law in San Francisco (UC Law SF), with a concentration in International and Comparative Law, focusing on the global legal system for asylum seekers and refugees. Prior to that, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Stanford University.
Alan is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, allowing him to effectively communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds and build strong relationships based on trust and understanding. He is actively involved in organizations dedicated to supporting the immigrant community, including the Consulate of Mexico in San Francisco, AGUILAS El Ambiente, and Oasis Legal Services, among others. He is an expert in LGBTQ+ asylum and has won dozens of cases for people fleeing persecution based on gender identity and/or sexual orientation.
